Mom, why are tootsie rolls coming out of the tub jets?
While this condition would not get by my most real estate agents, I am still surprised how often the Whirlbath Tub jets have NOT been cleaned prior to inspection of the home.
These tubs can represent a serious health concern if not properly maintained. It is not pleasant to fill up the tub—with the buyer watching—turn on the jets and have black goop ejected from the jets. It also delays the inspection as someone has to clean up the mess—-something that either I or the buyer’s agent usually have to do. I don’t gross out very easy— but buyers frequently do. Having these tubs professionally cleaned prior to listing and having the documentation on hand for the buyers seems like a prudent thing for the listing agent to do. Homeowners can not adequately clean these units with normal household cleaners. There are companies that specialize in the sanitation of these tubs and routine professional cleaning should be done at least annually.
When was the last time you had your jetted tub professionally cleaned?
