While perhaps not “technically” new construction, this 5 year old Condo had an issue with one of the plumbing vents that had been wrong for all of those 5 years. On the outside—-other than being a little “crooked”—-the vent looks sort of normal.
On the inside we can see why it is a “little” crooked. The pipes are not connected together. I was surprised to see that even an opening this small can collects quite a bit of water over 5 years—-as was evidenced by the compaction of the insulation below it.
It is a pretty easy fix—-but evidence again of why new construction needs to be inspected. The sad thing is—-this one was. Some inspectors don’t go in attics—or don’t go all the way to the end.
As one can see by the pitch of the roof there was plenty of room to move through the attic space.***
