I was probably in my late 20’s before I could grow a descent looking beard–and even that would have required a stretch of the imagination. I tried one for awhile–and it fit in with my “back to the land, counter-culture” lifestyle at the time. I finally decided it was just not “me,” and have not had one since. Now about as close to a beard that I get is “day-old” stubble my sweetie probably thinks is some sort of exfoliating device.
While I was perhaps “designed” to grow a beard, the structures we build, typically are not.

This beard-like vegetation that grew out of the header above this garage door opening is indicative of long standing hidden issues making themselves apparent.
For vegetation to grow there must be food, water and air. There is obviously food, water and air where there should not be in this structure.
When water turns the structure into food, the building is going to need more than a shave.
In this case the entire garage roof was “food” and not safe to walk on–or under, for that matter.
