Electric Baseboard heaters should not be installed behind doors or in any area where damage could result from the heat they give off. As you can see by the warning label on this heater, all combustible materials are to be maintained at least 12 inches away from the front and top of the unit. Of course with the door in the closed position there is no problem.
Clearly, when the door is in the closed position, (as in the picture on the right) this door is within 12 inches of the unit and could catch on fire.
If you look closely at the back of the door, you can see where it has been “cooked” by the wall heater. Hopefully the heater will get moved to prevent a possible fire.

That was a brilliant move installing the heater behind the door.
How hot do line voltage thermostats get? For example, if room temperature is 72 ‘F, the thermostat is about 85 ‘F measured an inch or two above the the thermostat case.
